week 14 : AQI data visualization (Final project)

Inspiration

Since January 2018, Thailand has been facing high levels of toxic air pollution that exceed safety limits set by the World Health Organization. Unfortunately, the Thai military government hasn’t solved and address this problem properly. Most of the Thai citizen didn’t concern about this harmful situation. According to this situation, I want to convey the story of air pollution for people in an interesting way.


I decided to create the data visualization of the AQI (air quality index) in each city around the world. I visualized the data with the particles floating in the air. The amount of the particles is related to the number of the AQI and the color of the particles represents the level of harmfulness of the air quality in the city.


Development in the future

  1. I want to arrange the shape of the particle into a lung in order to directly portray how people’s lungs look like when it was filled with air pollution.

  2. I want to add another set of data that shows the number of cars in each city because personal transportation is the biggest cause of air pollution in the city.
